Let's talk

On September 7th, the fashion industry will gather to discuss our responsibility and solutions for creating a more sustainable world. Fashinnovation is a global platform connecting many voices from the fashion and tech industries, all focused on building a more inclusive and eco-friendly society.

Talk is cheap, and Fashinnovation aims to drive actual change. It’s all about the day after the event and the initiatives that will make a difference decades later. So, how do we ensure that sustainable fashion is actionable and accessible? Here are a few thoughts.

Designing a Sustainable Mindset

One of my favorite quotes is Albert Einstein’s “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” For fashion to transform from one of the biggest polluters to an environmentally-responsible field, we must shift the paradigm and embrace a new mindset. Action begins with education, and as we climb the ladder of consciousness, we start to see things differently.

On-demand, for example, is more than just a form of shopping or manufacturing. It is a fresh perspective asking consumers and brands to trust one another and only create the garment when the consumer actually needs it. When the fashionista is ready, the garment appears. The same goes for recycled fashion, personalized items, and more. These exciting ideas take some getting used to before they can yield transformation.

The special YesAnd capsule collection we’re creating with Kornit for Fashinnovation will be printed on demand immediately following the event. We’ll demonstrate the power of innovative textile technology, proving that delivering stunning printed items at just the right moment is possible. We can’t solve tomorrow’s challenges using yesterday’s tools. Growth happens when we combine our new point of view with the innovative technology that enables it. Giving manufacturers and consumers both the outlook and instruments they need to become more sustainable is the answer.

Co-Creating Our New Reality

Speaking of our collection, collaborations like the one between EcofashionCORP and Kornit are another great way to bring ideas to life, and Fashinnovation is an incredible platform for such unique connections. When consumers are also invited to the party and create their own personalized items, they understand that the power is in their hands and are empowered to become more responsible in their choices.

Another collaboration that will take place later this month is the EcofashionCORP X MAGO fashion kiosks showcasing the KornitX technology. On September 13th in NYC, Nagasaka MAGO, a brilliant artist focused on environmental and poverty issues, will share his views with the world through his art printed on garments. Together, we’ll offer consumers a product that is fashionable, sustainable, and tells a story. We are all creators, building our desired reality.

Value and Values

When I started my eco-conscious journey three decades ago, one of the stigmas around sustainable fashion was that you had to choose between value and values. Today, we all know that fashion can and should be stylish and sustainable. Our next challenge is proving that businesses and consumers can enjoy fabulous, high-quality items that are both responsible and cost-effective. Material-saving methods, low-energy systems, minimized storage space, market demands, and additional factors make sustainability the obvious “good” business choice. Instead of asking why brands should opt for sustainable fashion, we want them to ask, “Why not?”

Sustainability will become the norm with the right mindset, tools, and collaborations. If you’re interested in witnessing practical solutions in action, join EcofashionCORP and Kornit’s special events. Let’s co-create our new reality together.
