SE-DA is a professional supplier of high-quality textiles for hotels, restaurants, and healthcare facilities. Poland-based SE-DA has been in business since 1990, operating as a family business.
They offer a wide range of decorative fabrics, including curtains, blinds, bedsheets, bathrobes, towels, slippers, and bathroom rugs. They engage in e-commerce via their HotelTex website, and print and sew various pieces in a variety of materials and quantities on demand.
“As the demands of our customers grew, we looked at different printing methods for more than a year,” says Damian Marchlewicz, CEO at SE-DA.
“Kornit Presto S was the best all-around product we could find on the market for high-quality printing to many different fabrics, which gives us great flexibility. The fact that pre- and post-treatment is completely inline makes it possible to print very quickly, keeping costs low while ensuring the production process is environmentally-friendly as no water is used during the entire production process.”
While Kornit’s roll-to-roll digital direct-to-fabric system represented a significant investment for the business, Damian noted Kornit technicians are very supportive and helpful in ensuring their comfort with using and maintaining the technology, from the evaluation process to installation.
“Having completed a few training sessions, we’ve found the Presto system very easy to operate, without dedicating a lot of time to learning how to use it,” he says.
SE-DA and its commercial customers are thrilled with the high quality results, and requiring less inventory has worked wonders for the company’s bottom line. Incoming orders are produced with very little setup time, the products are vivid and soft to the touch, and the imprinted materials have a superior light and wash fastness necessary for long-term use.
“We can dispatch our incoming orders quickly, print immediately, and the customers get a very high quality graphic that meets any standards in place,” says Damian. “Multiple prints go into a single feed, which helps minimize our costs, and we’re successfully selling our customers on curtains and bed linens that are truly sustainable, which is a topic we see gaining importance recently and for many years to come. “Besides high print quality, sustainability was one of the most important aspects in our decision.”
For SE-DA, the printer is critical to their success today and for the long term. They’ve created a microfactory around this technology within their production centre. By using the Kornit Presto S, together with cutting and sewing capabilities, they can offer their demanding customers a very high quality and end-to-end product.
According to Damian, their Kornit-based operations “will develop even further in the future, and will certainly represent an important pillar for us.”
“We see a great future in the print-on-demand business, and expect we’ll look back and see our investment in Kornit as a milestone in our company’s history,” he adds.
